Poly Aluminum Ferric Chloride (PAFC) | Flocculation & Sludge Dewatering for Industrial Wastewater

Poly Aluminum Ferric Chloride | PAFC

High-efficiency aluminum–iron composite coagulant designed for stable coagulation, rapid flocculation, and reliable solid–liquid separation in drinking water and wastewater treatment systems.

What Is Poly Aluminum Ferric Chloride (PAFC)?

Poly Aluminum Ferric Chloride (PAFC) is a high-performance inorganic polymer coagulant developed by combining the hydrolysis mechanisms of aluminum salts and iron salts.
As a professional PAFC manufacturer and supplier, we provide aluminum–iron composite coagulants with a high degree of polymerization and stable ionic structure.

By integrating aluminum ions with ferric ions, PAFC forms dense, fast-settling flocs with strong adsorption capacity. Compared with conventional coagulants such as PAC, aluminum sulfate, and ferric chloride, PAFC delivers more stable coagulation performance, especially under low-temperature, low-turbidity, and fluctuating water quality conditions.

PAFC is widely used in drinking water purification, municipal sewage treatment, industrial wastewater treatment, and sludge conditioning processes.

Key Features of PAFC Coagulant High-Efficiency Aluminum–Iron Composite Structure

Combines the advantages of aluminum-based and iron-based coagulants to achieve rapid hydrolysis and strong floc formation.

Wide Water Quality Adaptability

Maintains stable performance in high-turbidity, low-turbidity, and low-temperature water conditions.

Low Residual Aluminum

Helps treated water meet drinking water and discharge standards.

Dense Flocs & Fast Settling

Produces compact flocs with good settling and filtration characteristics.

Lower Dosage, Higher Performance

Achieves equivalent or better treatment results with lower chemical consumption.

Main Applications of Poly Aluminum Ferric Chloride

4-Drinking-water-treatment-plants
Drinking Water Treatment

PAFC is widely applied in municipal and rural drinking water plants to remove turbidity, suspended solids, color, and natural organic matter.
It performs reliably under low-temperature and low-turbidity conditions and helps maintain low residual aluminum levels.

Industrial & Municipal Wastewater Treatment
Municipal Sewage Treatment

Used in primary clarification and advanced treatment stages to improve suspended solids, COD, and phosphorus removal.
PAFC maintains stable operation under fluctuating influent flow and water quality.

1 Industrial Wastewater Treatment
Industrial Wastewater Treatment

Effective for complex industrial effluents including papermaking, textile & dyeing, chemical, metallurgical, and mining wastewater.
Shows strong tolerance to high organic load, color, salinity, and pH fluctuation.

Sludge Dewatering Solutions
Sludge Conditioning & Dewatering

Applied before mechanical dewatering processes to improve sludge floc strength, accelerate water release, and reduce sludge volume.

Water Treatment Jar Test
Low-Temperature & Low-Turbidity Water

Less affected by cold water conditions compared with traditional aluminum salts, making it suitable for winter operation and northern regions.

Industrial & Municipal Wastewater Treatment
Industrial & Circulating Water Systems

Used as pretreatment to reduce suspended solids, protect downstream equipment, and improve overall system stability.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q1: What is the main difference between PAFC and PAC?
PAFC contains both aluminum and iron components, providing stronger floc formation and better performance under low-temperature or low-turbidity conditions.
Q2: Is PAFC suitable for drinking water treatment?
Yes. PAFC is widely used in drinking water treatment due to its low residual aluminum and stable coagulation performance.
Q3: Can PAFC replace ferric chloride or alum?
In many applications, PAFC can replace conventional aluminum or iron salts with lower dosage and better overall efficiency.
Q4: Does PAFC work well in cold water conditions?
Yes. PAFC maintains coagulation efficiency in low-temperature water where traditional coagulants may fail.
Q5: Should PAFC be used together with PAM?
PAFC is often combined with PAM as a coagulant aid to further improve floc strength, sedimentation speed, and sludge dewatering performance.
