What Is Anionic Polyacrylamide (APAM) ?

Anionic Polyacrylamide (APAM) is a water-soluble, high-molecular-weight polymer flocculant with negatively charged functional groups along the molecular chain.

It is primarily used to aggregate suspended inorganic particles through adsorption and polymer bridging, forming large and fast-settling flocs.

APAM performs best in neutral to alkaline environments and is especially suitable for mineral-rich, high-suspended-solids wastewater.

Strong Flocculation Ability

High molecular weight structure provides excellent adsorption and polymer bridging.

Low Dosage, High Efficiency

Achieves effective clarification with minimal chemical consumption.

Wide Molecular Weight Range

Customizable grades available to match different wastewater characteristics.

Fast Dissolution & Easy Handling

Granular form dissolves completely with proper preparation.

Safe to Use

Non-toxic and non-corrosive under recommended operating conditions.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

What type of wastewater is APAM best suited for?
APAM is ideal for inorganic, mineral-rich, and high-suspended-solids wastewater, especially under neutral to alkaline conditions.
Can APAM be used with PAC or PFS?
Yes. APAM is commonly used as a flocculant aid after inorganic coagulants such as PAC or PFS to strengthen floc formation.
Is APAM suitable for sludge dewatering?
APAM is mainly used for sedimentation and clarification. For organic sludge dewatering, CPAM is usually more suitable.
How long does APAM take to dissolve?
With proper preparation, complete dissolution typically occurs within 60 minutes.
Can the molecular weight and ion content be customized?
Yes. Molecular weight and ion content can be adjusted according to wastewater characteristics and treatment requirements.
